Modern Furniture: Florinda Chairs by Monica Förster For De Padova

Stockholm-based contemporary Swedish designer Monica Förster has created a series of joyfully-coloured chairs called ‘Florinda’ for the Italian manufacturer De Padova. Presented during this year’s Salone del Mobile, the lightly-structured stackable design comes in solid beech finish which is juxtaposed with colorful seat, back and optional armrests.

The Mushiki Modular Storage Cabinet is Positively Steamy

The Mushiki storage system is a simple cabinet that has been inspired by a traditional Japanese cooking vessel. Designed by Spanish designer Tomas Alonso, the large, circular-shaped containers are constructed from sustainable bamboo reminiscent of its inspiration, or an Indian tiffin box. Modular in make, you can stack one upon the other to form one very smart and stylish storage unit.

The title of this feature may be a bit misleading. A basement does not really sound like a place I would dream of living but well-known graphic designer Lars Sundh has changed my mind with his transformed Cinema, a 4500 sq. foot basement filled with life and light.
