Creation process of the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman

The great thing about design is that it can be timeless. Not easy to achieve but there are enough examples floating around that fit that category. One of them is a chair that was introduced more than 50 years ago. It’s probably the best selling piece of Eames furniture, namely the Lounge Chair & Ottoman.

As far as I know the only two companies that are officially licensed to produce the Eames furniture are Herman Miller for the United States and Vitra for Europe and Middle East.

I’ve got more Belgian quality design for you today. My first contact with today’s company was at Interieur 2010 if memory serves me right. In the comments of last week’s item about the Spock LED light I got reminded about it by Alexandre Chailleux in the comments.

Light switches, power sockets, Ethernet sockets often are a forgotten piece of interior design. Not so for Belgian company basalte. They specialize in home automation. Home automation should be simple and add comfort to the complexity of the modern home. What you immediately notice is that these are gorgeous to look at.

i love this new mun furniture collection from interior designer Christine Starkenburg for Andaacht Studio in the Netherlands. It’s called slow wood, and it’s hand-made with love and attention by local craftsmen in Fryslan, using solid wood, 100% natural finishes and mineral paint on iron bases for an industrial look and feel.
